House Environmental Resources & Energy – 4/2, 9:00 a.m.

The House Environmental Resources Cmte conducted an informational meeting on SB 949, otherwise known as the Bituminous Coal Mine Safety Act. Chairman Bud George noted the committee is scheduled to vote on the bill next Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. He stated that he looks forward to moving the bill forward.

House Veterans Affairs & Emergency Prep 4/2 9:00 a.m.

The House Veterans Affairs committee reported eight bills out of committee this morning, each by a unanimous vote. Two bills, HB 2357 and SB 1172, were amended, while the rest were reported as committed.

PFSA kicks off Child Abuse Prevention Month

The PFSA kicked off April as Child Abuse Prevention Month this morning in the East Wing Rotunda. Among others in attendance were DPW Secretary Estelle Richman and Representatives Katie True, Ed Wojnaroski, and Harry Readshaw. Rep. Wojnaroski, prime sponsor of the House Resolution for Child Abuse Prevention Month, stated that in light of his retirement at the end of the current session, Rep. Readshaw will be the resolution’s prime sponsor in 2009.
