The House Ag committee met for a third time on HB 2525, with rewrites the Dog Law and finally voted it out of committee. Press Conference on bill to ban mandatory overtime

Legislators and advocates held a press conference to urge the Senate to pass legislation to eliminate mandatory overtime for health care workers, including nurses. Rep. Press Conference on MR Waiting List

Legislators and advocates for people with mental disabilities rallied at the Capitol today to call for the elimination of the waiting list for housing and other community-based services. Rep. George Kenney explained that the Joint State Government Commission just released a report to recommend how to eliminate the waiting list. Look later for coverage of this event.

House Professional Licensure – off the floor

House Professional Licensure amended SB 838, regarding CPAs, approved regulations16A-419: Final rulemaking of State Architects Licensure Board related to requirements for examination eligibility and  16A-5415: Final rulemaking of State Board of Pharmacy related to supplies and equipment; and voted to take no action until final regs are promulgated and to submit comments on Regulations 16A-5133: Proposed rulemaking of the State Board of Nursing related to certified nurse specialists and 16A-6911: Proposed rulemaking of the State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors related to code of ethical practice and standards of professional conduct.

House Veterans Affairs – Off the floor

The House Veterans Affairs amended and voted on SB 385 this afternoon. The bill would require VoIP providers to assess a $1 fee on each service line. Citing a commitment he made not to support any bill he perceives as a tax increase, Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) voted against the bill…

House Rules Committee – off the floor

House Rules met off the floor to consider six bills. Rep. Sam Smith expressed concerns with HB 2621 and HB 1620, but both bills were reported unanimously.

House Agriculture & Rural Affairs – 9:30 a.m.

The House Ag Committee today continued its consideration of HB 2525, which rewrites the Dog Law. The committee adopted six more amendents, rejected three, and another six were withdrawn. The committee is expected to reconvene within the next 24 hours to continue consideration of amendments and ultimately the bill.
