Sam Smith and Mario Civera talk budget cuts, Morganelli

House Republican Leader Sam Smith and Republican Appropriations Chair Mario Civera offered their thoughts this afternoon on areas for potential budget cuts, on the possibility of reopening the budget itself, and the likelihood of a Special Session being called before Swearing In day in January. They also denied accusations of malfeasance by the Republican Caucus related to the Bonusgate scandal made by Attorney General candidate John Morganelli earlier in the day, and criticized the Democratic candidate for his statements. Latino-American Identity Reaffirmation Day Celebrated in Capitol Rotunda

The 5th Annual Latino-American Identity Reaffirmation Day was marked in the Capitol Rotunda with live music and guest speakers. The event was dedicated to the contributions of the Venezuelan community to Pennsylvania. Speakers included Emilio A. Buitrago, President of Casa de Venezuela Delaware Valley; Norman Bristol Colon, Executive Director for the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs; and Jose Urdaneta, Councilman for the City of Lancaster and PA Senate candidate for the 13th District.

Morganelli criticizes AG Corbett for handling of Bonusgate

John Morganelli, Democratic candidate for Attorney General, criticized AG Tom Corbett today for “mishandling” the Bonusgate investigation. Among his numerous mistakes, Morganelli asserted, was Corbett’s almost total failure to investigate either Republican caucus.
