Following a joint House/Senate/Governor Democratic Caucus, the Governor today joined with fourteen Democratic leaders to highlight the need for a PIT increase. Reiterating his belief that “the numbers will drive the budget” the governor emphasized that revenue enhancement is necessary in order to protect vulnerable citizenry, preserve public safety, and mitigate potential tax increases at the local level. House Majority Leader Todd Eachus, Senate Minority Leader Bob Mellow and House Approp Chair Dwight Evans spoke on the need for the PIT increase, stressing that this compromise is still a work in progress.
