PLS talks with Aging Secretary Brian Duke

As part of a new series of interviews with department heads, PLS recently sat down with Secretary of Aging Brian Duke, who spoke on a range of topics including the department’s 2011-12 budget and ongoing work to rebalance care for the elderly. I think that the Department of Aging for the most part, their budget will kind of be flat-funded and I don’t foresee any significant changes. I wonder yet, and we’re still reviewing the budget to see what its impact will be on some of the new initiatives we want to initiate out of the Department of Aging to really revitalize those services that were identified in the Older Americans Act and moving forward. Session Recap & Freshman Focus Now Available!

Session Recap: You don’t know where you’re going unless you know where you’ve been

PLS is proud to present Session Recap. The Session Recap is a complete statistical breakdown of the 2009 legislative session, designed to provide a complete picture of the legislative trends that have transpired over the past four years.

Session Recap provides not only aggregate data on bill introductions but also on legislative subject matter, committee workload and legislative involvement, total number of bills introduced, total number of bills signed into law and total number of bills vetoed by Governor Rendell. These and many additional breakdowns are further separated by chamber and by caucus. As with everything PLS produces, the raw data is being presented without bias for you to draw your own conclusions.

The data used to develop Session Recap resides within the PLS Capitol Toolbox. Specifically, data was compiled through the Advanced Search/Advanced Report feature and Member pages. If you would like additional data sets please contact PLS or feel free to tap into these resources by launching your own analysis. To learn more about conducting legislative research, please contact training@mypls.com or visit the PLS Capitol Classroom.
