The Senate Aging and Youth Committee today met to discuss standards related to reporting child abuse. During the meeting it was uncovered that school employees are held to a different reporting standard than others. The bill discussed during the meeting, SB 549, seeks to change these standards. The Senate Aging and Youth Committee met today to discuss the nomination of Brian Duke for Secretary of Aging. After listening to his opening comments, the Committee members asked questions on a variety of topics such as home and community based care, funding for the Area Agencies on Agency and provider reimbursements. The Senate Aging and Youth Committee met to consider a bill (which was passed over due to the lack of a quorum) and to learn about the Department of Aging’s proposed Integrated Care Plan. The committee heard from several testifiers in opposition to the plan, though many acknowledged the intent is laudable. Aging Secretary Hall defended the plan, which is being rolled out in the southwest, stating it will supplement current options and extend service to currently unserved individuals.
